Default Fly Fishing Blogs

I really enjoy the banter, info, advice and everything that makes this forum such a pleasant place to visit.

I also enjoy reading Blogs, and I wondered which fly fishing blogs other forum users enjoy.

So which do you recommend?

I recently found "Dry Fly 'Expert' " through a link on this forum, I enjoy it for the focused entries on a particular point the author wishes to make, the links to step by step fly tying relevant to those entries, and the sheer joy he shares in his love of dry fly fishing. It's mainly about dry fly on small rivers, very practical, with the angler's philosophical, practical, historical and thoroughly enthusiastic approach to this area of flyfishing. A damn good read.

You can check it out for yourself Dry Fly 'Expert'

I've limited my suggestion to one blog, though there are loads of others I enjoy.

If you have just one blog to recommend to fellow forum folk, what would you recommend, and why?

Mine because I need followers!!!

Just kidding, mine is not too technical really. At the moment I'm aiming for a kind of fishing scrap book, so I can look back at my progress through the sport. Only started it a few weeks ago so its a bit short!

I regularly check out the Curley Blog to see how its fishing before I nip up. Other than that I would have to side the Dry Fly expert much like yourself.

Very rare Occasion for me to read anyone's BLOG. A blog is for personal experiences or for professional people to advertise their wares and professional experiences.

But now we have young everybody who's nobody having their own blog, what's it all about (bit of show off) no need for it, especially as you have a multitude of specific forums to publish whatever you like.

enough reading and interest on the forums.

Not a very good outlook on the youngsters of today, they all have their own experiences and if they want or feel the need to share them, good!

Just because someone is young doesn't make them an idiot, and when my grandson is say 18 - 20 years old I hope I have shown him, and he has learned enough to share with people.

I suppose you would prefer them sitting around in bus shelters getting drunk.

Sorry but I like youngsters, as they are our tomorrow.

With respect that is a sweeping statement that cannot help but seem somewhat condescending...!

Some of the most interesting blogs I've read just lately have been by young people. They are as valid as anything anyone says on here. For some they are today's first steps into writing. Remembering the struggles I had years ago to get my writings published, the arrival of blogs for today's younger writers has to be a good thing.

It depends on how much there is to "publish" and what folks want to read to satisfy their interests. The Dry Fly 'Expert' blog, for example, is a free repository that grows over time, but hopefully is a resource for folk to dip into anytime. Yes, it is based entirely on personal experiences. What else could be valid?

To retype everything over and over again, just to keep it available on the forum for each time a question popped up, would be a labour of love too far. Putting a link into a specific reply to a member's specific question is far more efficient and it helps keep the forum from getting clogged with repetitive typings where errors can creep in so easily.

There is no need to knock the growth and popularity of blogs because it is much easier to ignore them than to read them. You shouldn't really have a problem.
