Default Anyone recommend a good midge net?

I'm going to Scotland in the summer for a bit of fishing. I went last year, and had a midge net, which was great, except for the fact I could hardly see through the damn thing. Can anyone recommend a good one, which is actually functional when on your head?

Most midge nets are the same, not much of a choice or difference when it comes to vision.

Mmm maybe, but as the lass top left demonstrates if you want to see there will be a price to pay .

Chris.

Tried several different types when working on the west coast of Eire (Midge heaven) and as above all much the same. If you have found one that definately stops them getting in I'd stick with it!

Thanks for that. So am I right in thinking I just won't really be able to see anything, no matter what I get?

Thanks

Hi
I agree with most of the above. ones as good as another. i think mines a highlander and cost about £1. Visions not a problem when the beggers arnt bighting your eyelids!!!!!
As an addition, stay away from insect repellant containing DET (I think?).
not much fun when your fly line coating begins to dissolve in your hands.

I knew a nutter who wore a white anti flash hat...(the white things naval gunners wear) with a section of his wifes tights sewn across the face opening
He looked incredibly stupid but it worked. He dyed it green for the trip the following year but the dye came out with the sweat and he looked like shrek for the week
happy dayz

Aye, it's a fine line between the ones with the mesh big enough to see through, and the ones with the mesh small enough to stop the midges. I thought I had a good one until, having got away from them, I realised there were more on the inside with me than there were on the outside.

That one went in the bin and I got one from here... Midge Head Net for head protection from midge, mosquito, fly, etc.

Works much better - you can just about see through it.
