by the way - this is a photo of my local river - 20 yards downstream of the councils septic tank outflow pipe . the river bed is totally dead and is like this for hundreds of yards. i have brought this to the attention of all the relevant authorities but they don't seem to give a sh** - shocking isnt it

Gotcha. I was almost right. Your river is being treated as a settlement pool.

And yes, it's shocking. It's a disgrace. Get it in your local rags.

I am in the process of putting together an article about the probelm for my local paper - will name and hopefully shame all the authorities charged with protecting our rivers
