Default Jan Fly Fishing & Fly Tying Festive Codeword

Seasons greetings to everyone.

Now , I know that I'm not the most chemically sharpened hook in the packet , but I am having trouble understanding what the fe ck goes on with this cross/code word thingy?

Is the title "A really good read" a clue to , or a common thread linking all the answers?

Have I missed something in a previous issue , or even in this issue , that explains any criteria for the missing letters/words?

Any pointers appreciated , although it must be time to break out The Balvenie , it is Christas after all , I'm sure that'll clear my head..........

Jeff

I completed the codeword and sent it off to the mag. I've slept since but from what I can remember most of the answers were well known anglers names. I'm pretty sure one of the answers was Bob Church.

Hope this gives you a start.

Merry Christmas and have a Balvenie for me, I'm no longer allowed to partake for health reasons

26 numbers, and 26 letters of the alphabet. They give you three to start you off and then you find the rest. As a help "E" is the most common letter and therefore will be the most common number on the grid and in this case occurs 43 times. Now carry on from there and if you win you can send me the book!

I see it now , I don't usually do crosswords and this codeword thingy was something I'd never heard of .

With a little more searching online I have it sorted .

Many thanks to you both , now where did I put that Balvenie...........
