Default Fly reels

Can anyone recommend a good fly reel in a 4/5 model at a reasonable price- sick of buying mid range reels only for the drag to pack up after a years fishing
Thanks in advance

See if you can get your hands on Shimano ultegra 5/6 circa 2001 to 2004 on flea bay.
Is cracking lightweight reel, not large arbor, as is current fashion, but does take a good amount of micro lite backing, has superb drag, machined bar stock, silent retrieve, can be palmed in fast!
sold for about £60 way back then.
I still have 3 plus 3 spare spools, are still doing the biz!!!
regards
bert

I've had an orvis battenkill standard arbor for two years and it's great. I'd say the battenkill has been around so long for a reason!
I left it out in -17C in the shed last winter and I've never taken any care of it and it's still perfect. It's tough, has a nice drag range and is light.

In that size of reel you really don't need a drag.A rubber O ring tensions the spool so no overrun. And strangely it works very well in the bigger sized reel.I use it for all my dry fly fishing 4/5 and all my comp fishing 6/9 size.very light very simple and cheap.
