Rio lines the Gold, Selective Trout and LT all come with welded loops and are very high quality and expensive.

I very much doubt that your tangles are anything to do with your braided loop - more likely the result of some casting issues or the way your leader is set up, particularly if you're using weighted patterns.

Personally, I don't like braided loops very much as they're often too long and create a hinging effect - Roman Moser minicon loops are the only ones I've used that I'd recommend. Usually, I dispense with any loop on the end of my fly line and needle knot the butt of a tapered leader to the line.

Hi Chap, forum member Platinum Tackle would be worth PM, he's selling on this forum and here too:
Fly lines with welded loop
I've just purchased his clear intermediate fly line.

Sounds like your creating a tailing loop.

Hope that helps

Unless you really need another line to fish your river, why not scrap the loop altogether and instead build your own leaders using a sacrificial butt as per in the method explained here?

Dry Fly 'Expert': Leader linguistics, tippet talk and tips...

If you try it you will be very pleased with the easiness of making nice presentations, whilst the absence of the hinge (caused by the loop) will reduce the tangling.

the only problem i can see is that i change leader alot as im a beginner and get tangles, how is this possible if i attach leader straight to fly line. im assuming a know to tie 2 pieces of tippert together would be quite hard to do in a river

I was sure i had posted on this thread. Oh well.Chop these loops off unless you are only going to use polyleaders .They cannot handle mono/flouro/copoly leaders ,they just cut into the coating and wreck the loop.fit small braided loops properly, and you will have no problems.

I personally cant see the benefits of a factory integrated loop...I cut mine off my orvis wonderline. I cant imagine fishing dries with one...braided loop whipped on every time for me. I even hacked them off the shooting head lines I have ....far too bulky in my opinion.
If its any help I put about a foot of 18lb maxima after the braided loop on my river lines i find this helps turnover of fine tippets on the end of my homemade tapers .

An alternative if you want a less bulky loop is to strip the flyline coating away on the 'loop' part, and weld the line as normal - simple to do, all you need is some clear heatshrink tubing and a lighter - does the job.
Caimore lines come like this with a welded loop, and the loop stripped of coating (I think). They're not too bad lines either - and very cheap.
