Please read this, a thankyou from LTC.
I was reminded yesterday by Bruce1 that it was exactly one year since I put a packet of furled leaders up for auction in the hope of raising a few quid over a period of 12 months, for cancer research.
Seeing what has taken place since I did that, I still find hard to believe.
Within hours of putting that post up, I was inundated with PM's from people, all wanting to help, donate, deposit money, do fund raising days, offer a days fishing etc etc, it was quite over whelming.
As I type, we have approx £11.272.00 in the accounts, and with the December auction yet to take place, I think we could well end the year close to £12.000.
My intention when I put this end of year post up, was to thank various people, for their generosity, and total dedication to this wonderful cause.
On reflection, I have decided not to mention any names, it would be wrong in many ways to single out individuals, some have been very generous indeed, with donations, others have anonymously put money into the accounts, and some have bought a badge, some have sat and tied flies until their fingers bled.
It matters not a jot to me, the thing that does matter, is the fact you made an effort, large or small, in your own way, and off your own bat.
You are all aware of the people who have donated over the full 12 months, the trade members, and the others who have managed whatever they could, when they could, and in my eyes, each and everyone of you are stars.
I must however just thank firstly admin, for letting us run the LTC on their site. Dave (tigermoth) for his initial involvement in setting up the "just giving account", Alun (achampion) for his monthly updates, been a great help Alun. Edd7 and monical, who took it upon themselves to design and manufacture the very popular LTC official badge, no mean feat lads, especially you edd, as you spend half your time offshore.
And last but by no means least, my old buddy Brian (enigma309) without who's help it would have been impossible.
When ever I hit a brick wall, he was there to steer me around it, and has worked like a trooper. cheers Brian.
Before I finish, let me just say that the LTC vehicle has now been well and truly set in motion, and I agreed to see it through for a period of 1 year.
I see no reason why this auction site has to end at midnight on Jan 1st.
So in future if anyone wishes to donate an item, a days fishing, etc, please feel free to go to the LTC thread, advertise your goods, and give them an end date, NO lot number is necessary from now on, just follow the layout from any other post, and make sure the winner, ie the highest bidder has deposited his payment before you release the goods.
Brian and I will offer any help if you need it, but from now on the balls in your court to keep this alive. We are off fishing.
My sincere thanks to you all, and may I take this opportunity of wishing each and everyone a very happy Christmas, and a healthy and prosperous 2012, and beyond.
Steven.
PS. I have today attended a funeral with Brian, of an old friend of ours who died peacefully at home last week.
Yes it was cancer that caused it, it holds no boundaries, but due to the exceptional care that he received in the last few weeks, from professional carers, he was able to remain at home, and not end his days on a hospital ward.
So if any, or all of the money that has been raised by LTC, contributed in any way to keeping him at home, then it was money well spent!!
S.
