Default Tried an indicator on rivers nypmhing?

Hi guy,s

Easy known the winter months are in, i,m thinking of ways to fish my local river next year
Never tried floating nymph,s with an indicator on rivers but gonna give it a good go next year, i,m sure plenty of people have done this,so any tips would be great on this topic.
Is it too much to put 2 on? would be trying a good few fast runs.. not deep.. say 2-4feet mostly.

David

Tie onto your fly line a 7 foot tapered leader ending in 5X.
Attach another 24 - 36 inches of 5X to the leader with a double surgeon's knot or your favorite leader-to-tippet knot.
Attach the first fly (I like to use an attractor type pattern) to the end of the 5X.
Tie an 18 inch section of 5X to 7X to the bend or eye of the first fly (I prefer tying to the bend of the first fly with a simple clinch or improved clinch knot.
Now pick your favorite fly for the conditions you will be fishing in and attach it to the end. Or use a dropper tag from the knot.
Attach any weight needed 12 - 18 inches above the top fly and above the knot you created when you tied the first piece of 5X on (this prevents the weight from slipping).
Attach your indicator about 1.5 times the depth of the water you will be fishing Above the knot/lead weight
This is the setup I use when fishing tail waters or smaller/shallow rivers using #8 lead shot and 2 flies of #22 to #26

Hope that helps a bit.

You don't float nymphs under an indicator. The nymphs should be almost touching bottom. The indicator is exactly that, an indicator
