Default xmas wellies, eiger neozone

I am thinking of buying my dad some wellies for Christmas, and remember a good review of these wellies in some fishy mag. Currently on offer at mullarkeys it seems like a good idea.
Thing is....is it worth forking out another tenner or so for another make?
also
Im a size 9-9 and a half, but the wellies I got not long ago are size 8....I tried on the best fit....

So since my dad is a size 7, do I go for a 7 or a 6?
Does anybody know if these boots actually match the size on the tin (so to speak)?

Any ideas?

I bought a pair of Hunter wellies from John Norris, he had a deal on them on offer. Check them out, great wellies.

Hunters are ****.....the fly line gets stuck in the buckle on the sides and causes you a lot of grief.

Also they are only suitable for people with very small calf muscles......i can't get them on and off without a real struggle and covering myself in mud....leave these for the Range Rover driving mothers of London !

Personally i've got a pair of black Argyle Wellies....these are made by Hunter but are a much better fit for a normal person; they also have no buckles.

Usually a pair lasts me 7 - 8 years and that's with a lot of use (2 - 3 days) a week

I researched this subject quite recently and the answer that most often came up for a pair of quality wellies was Aigle (hope that's right as I think Santa may have some in his sack for me).

Muck boots come well recommended but I just cannot bear the look of them. I have a pair of Scottish made Hunters which have been excellent but there have been huge quality issues since they moved manufacturing to the far east a few years back.

That's right....think it's just my spelling that's at fault again....i've had a couple of pairs over the last 20 years and love them...

my only tip is get a nice warm, cushioned insole to line your boots with...well worth the extra £5

Ifyou can find them try Dunlop wildlife wellies The best I have ever worn.Great walking wellies with a great tread.I found the aigle had very narrow calf fit.
