Default Wooley Rod Warranties?

I've had to help a couple of friends get rod tip replacements recently with Greys and was wondering what all the other companies do/offer.

1. G-tec tip replaced for £40
2. Broken XD Comp Special - no section available so upgrade to new model with 50% discount.

I know 'fit for purpose' usually gets a free replacement if < 12 months old but £40 squid is a lot.

So what about:
Airflo, Sage, Shakespeare, Scierra, Flextec, Orvis, Guideline etc

I can only speak for Orvis and Sage and they are very good warranties indeed , Orvis is the best by a mile

Recently had a tip section break on a Greys GS2 which I hadn't had long, didn't have the receipt but spoke to them on the phone and was told to send the section in and as it was less than a year old it should be replaced free of charge without the receipt.

Recieved a letter a few days later from Greys stating it was going to cost the best part of £40 to replace, the cost of the part £8 and the rest was ADMIN I decided to send an email complaining about the cost and that it was initially indicated to me over the phone that I would receive the section free of charge and would they please review their decision, got an email back the next day telling me that on this occasion they would replace free of charge and the section duly arrived within a couple of days, so overall with me not having any proof of purchase date I was obviously happy with the outcome

It seems to be a bog standard pricing £40-45, to replace a section. I have to replace the tip section on my loop rod, it will cost £45.

I often read that this warranty is better than that warranty (usually Orvis, which is very good in my experience) but the thing to bear in mind is that you have rights under the sale of goods act with the place you bought the rod from, not the manufacturer (unless you bought it direct of course).
If you have a breakage in the first 6 months due to normal usage then the shop legally has to either prove that the rod wasn't faulty when they sold it or repair/replace the item, no ifs, no buts, no handling charges. After 6 months there is an element of responsibility on you to prove that the breakage was not due to wear and tear, but as the expected life of a rod is much longer than 6 months that shouldn’t be a problem.
The manufacturer’s warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and should only be used as a last resort although most shops will try to fob you off. The rights under the sale of goods act might not apply if you go direct.

Wychwood is £25 for the true fly range, they sent it next day after a phone call and sent me an invoice a month later. Very pleased with the service.

Snowbee is also £25, but you have to send the whole rod back to the company you purchased it from with proof of purchase. This is where it went wrong for me as I couldn't find a receipt and I "thought" that I purchased it from Sportfish but wasn't 100% sure. So, its still in my garage with a broken tip. I'm a bit more careful with receipts now.
