Default Goosander

Hi,

Last time I was down the river Taff (Long time ago), There was loads of the Goosander.
Have you ever seen them in different places? I only seen them 3/4 times, but they are chasing Grayling up the shallows!! Reading on the internet, they are a resident to Wales, but I've only ever seen them on the Taff, and I do travel a bit!!

They are a major problem on many Welsh rivers, you expect to see them on the middle or upper reaches of almost any river, the Wye, Severn, Usk, Dee, Conwy, Dyfi and Clwyd all have them in good numbers and probably others.

THe worst time is when they have well grown broods that number up to 10 or more and they are all eating let's say 10 parr a day, that's 3,000 juvenile game fish a month!!!!!

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”

Hmm... did you ever think to check the next two rivers east? As the Usk and Wye are heaving with them.

Just a minor problem on rivers, in the big picture.
Do you actually think they only target fish we like to catch?
Kingfishers do as much damage, aint heard anyone wanting to shoot them!
