Default Clothing layers, how do ya do it?

I'm just about to order a new 3/4 jacket and fleece(already decided on the Daiwa Wilderness XT) and wondered what you think would be best

Wilderness XT 3/4 jacket with either
Wilderness XT soft shell fleece or the Wilderness XT fleece to wear under it

Anyone know the difference between them(apart from price)

I was thinking of another brand(won't mention it) until I read reviews from you guys who've actually used it and didn't rate it

I use the wilderness jacket and fleece and never had a problem with the cold

Is that the standard Wilderness fleece as opposed to the soft shell?

Looking at the 'spec' on the Daiwa site it tells you that the 3/4 length jacket is lined and that the Wilderness® XT Fleece – WDXTF has Nylon layered shoulders and forearms - I'd question whether that would be good in terms of 'breathability'.

Personally, I'd go for the soft shell.

I have the Daiwa Airity match clothing and own both the fleece, jacket and soft shell.

The soft shell is designed as a lightweight fleece with a showerproof outer. Its ideal for summer days or Autumn when its still fairly warm but theres a chance of a shower.

If I was purely looking for a jacket and thermal clothing for the winter I would go for the jacket and normal fleece underneath.
The thing with the soft shell is its slightly stiffer than the standard fleece due to the showerproof coating which makes it a little uncomfortable to wear under other clothing.

If its purely for wearing under the jacket save your money and buy the fleece only as your paying for a showerproof coating that you dont need under the jacket or do what Ive done and by both and you have a complete all year system

We're talking about a different product.

Wilderness® XT Soft Shell – WDXTSS
• Windproof soft shell
• Interior micro pile rib for heat retention
• Three internal pockets (two with zips)
• Elasticated waist cord
• Zippered external hand pockets
• Chest accessory pocket with zips
• Vent mesh lining on body and sleeves
• Elasticated cuffs with Velcro adjusters
• Two way zip and elasticated waistcord

Showerproof coating?
