Default Trouble with intermediate line

Folks some advice please.

I'm using airflo ridge clear intermediate line on a 10' #8 rod and seem to lose quite a few fish once hooked. I'm fairly new to this and wondered if it's because there's a bit of stretch in the line as it's apparently a monofiliment core.

Am I not setting the hook right to take account of the stretch or is there another secret to using intermediate lines?

Don't have the same problem with my floating line which is a greys #8 which seems to have a braided core??

Any advice appreciated

Somtimes fish just drop off.But there are 2 regular reasons that would make it more prevelant.
Non stretch core=your playing the fish to hard.
Stretch core=your not playing the fish hard enough.
I'm not sure if the Ridge inter has a Sixth sense core.which has little strech but it will help if you find out.

According to airflo web site it's a low memory co-poly core, whatever that is? Vic at Stirling Angling Supplies said it was a mono core and 'might' need straightened occasionally to take out kinks if kept on the reel for some time without use. That's not been needed yet.

I more than often use my clear intermediate and on one outing lost quite a few fish but it was a really windy day, never happened before so i just put it down to the way the trout were hitting the fly, ian ?

That could be it right enough. Still think something's wrong with the way I hit the fish. It,s happened in boats and on the bank. God knows!
