Hi Nick. Welcome.

If you want some company when your in Oxfordshire, feel free to give me a pm. Farmoor is well worth a visit, as is Bleinham palace. A few secret streams as well if your after grayling, trout as well as the usual coarse species.

Hi Nick
Welcome to the forum.

If you've not found it, there's a section for fly fishing for other species - lots of guidance and advice to be got there for pike and perch on the fly.

I used to have a gf who lived in Kidlington.
Strange place.

Hi Nick,
Welcome to the forum, I've had a few pike on the fly from the Cherwell and some from the Oxford canal. The pike in my avatar was from a stream about a mile from Kidlington. If you get some lighter gear then have a go for chub. Very successful method a friend uses is to (stealthily) follow some floating bread down river and then cast in a bread fly in amongst it when the chub start to take. Great fun and there are some dirty great chub in the rivers around our area.

Cheers

Andy

Hi, Well that's a bit of encouragement, i've been up and down the canal around bletchingdon and to Thenford lake (Ex trout lake with large perch in and sure a few PIKE) but still no joy, i have the weekend to myself this weekend so shall try a few different venues.
Just got myself a Sonik Sk4 5/6 rod and related tackle so will try and use that with some smaller flies to winkle out a few fish from somewhere. Lots of venues i have looked at state that you cannot release all the fish you catch? can someone explain why? (i'm not into killing fish, no reason other than i haven't done it before and don't know how to store them or despatch them humanley?!? Excuse my ignorance

You need to learn how to dispatch a fish properly, even if you only want to fish catch and release.

Just incase you ever need to do it.
