Where abouts in the U.K. are you, as you might be better off getting some local help. Books, d.v.d's etc are all very well, but there's np substitute for local knowledge whatever your depth of experience is.

I think you need look no further than a book by Dennis Moss called Trout From A Boat, it's a fantastic read, not just for the fishing tips.

Hard one to answer, but here goes.

A Dictionary of Trout Flies by Courtney Williams.
Stillwater Flies how and when to fish them by John Goddard
Success with Trout by Chris Ogborne
Advanced Stillwater Fly Fishing By Chris Ogborne
Mastering the Nymph by Gordon Frazer
Trout Fly Fishing an Expert Approach by Martin Cairncross and John Dawson

Most important thing is to take a long hard look at the variety of sinking lines available; particularly the Airflow/Fishtec range. Understand how they sink, and behave when short-lining and full-lining
The key to converting the follows into hooked fish is all in finding the correct retrieve on any given day.
IMHO the retrieve and its variations, even when fishing dries, is the most important thing to master to achieve constant success in the whole of stillwater fly fishing.

thanks for the replies. Most my fly fishing here is to spotted fish and single fly rigs. browsing the forum I find things like bob fly and washing machine method. looking for something to explain the rigs and techniques used. Wanting to update my library as I have plenty of US and Australian fly books.

Suggest you open another thread and ask specific questions about: lines, retrieves, fly combinations that compliment , drogues and how to set them properly, etc.

Never heard of the Washing Machine method either, but suspect that's something Tony Hawks may do as he's done the fridge.
Think you mean washing line.
