Ah,The WF/DT conundrum.
Do you have any backing fitted or is the DT line taking up the full reel. if you have backing fitted then fit less.if it's the full line /no backing, then cut 5-10 yrds off the DT, fit some backing .Job DoneIt's not the most eloquent way of solving your poroblem, but it will work fine.
Or buy a cheap WF line, fit it untill you get used to casting it then you'l know what to do.

working backwards , you bought a DT10 line to go with a 10 rated rod ,my guess is for spey type casting ,my gut tells me go for a bigger reel .
Of course I could be wrong ,often am .

That is of course the correct answer Andy,But if youv'e spent the money .you might as well get some use out of the tackle 1st before putting it away in the cupboard.

Was thinking of telling Nesticals to try taking it back to his dealer and get a bigger one .
Longish time since i regularly used DTs for Spey casting and hated having short ones back then .

Why do the manufacturers of fly rods, reels and lines persist with these wretched split or multiple line weight markings such as the "9/10" one that seems to have caught nesticles out ? Confusing to inexperienced anglers and unnecessary for old hands

If reel is marked 9/10 then it should take a DT line I would return the reel and get me cash back

If you are going to cut the line, don't just chop off a portion of one end. It will make that end of a DT useless if you want to turn the line around.

I would cut the line in half and store the unused section back on the manufacturer's original line spool. Then you can use it later when the first half wears out.
