Default Butler's Pool, Waterville

I'm fishing Currane next September and am about to book a half day on the Butler's Pool. So as to make the most of the (expensive) opportunity and to ensure I book the right day, does anyone on here have any experience of doing so and, in particular (at present) whether it fishes best on an ebb or flood tide or whether it makes little odds.

Thanks in advance

Tony

Fish it on a flooding tide last two hours on a small tide and last 3 hours on a big tide. The "pool" is a short short river from the sea to the lake. You will see the waves and open sea from where the pool begins. The tide reaches this and the fish come in on each tide. If you can get an early morning or late evening tide (dawn/dusk) all the better. Fish will of course lie there but these def the best times pat

Thanks Pat, very helpful. Do you know if you can pick any 4-hour fishing slot or is it set times?

Hi tony ive fished it a good few times we have a place down there. However I never paid as with someone who had an arrangement with the house. i think when its busy (Which it prob would be in September) the slots begin from first light to dusk. Contact alan at waterville house. look at the tide times. i would suggest if a first light tide works at that time try and book the first one which could add another hour of daybreak to your slot by arriving early. best pat

Thanks Pat. Now booked for a morning slot that coincides with high tide. Cheers for all your help.
