Default snap connectors

Has anyone ever used these? I can kinda see the benefit when using lures maybe, especially on a day like today when changing flies/lures was quite testing in the windy conditions. Not sure if they'd spook the fish though

Hello mate,

Got some of these. Used them for the same reason as you said for quick changing of lures when trying lots of different colours to find out what the fish want. Would maybe be good in competitions for this too. Extra weight they provide doesn't matter if fishing weighted lures also.

Wouldn't really use them for any other flies.

cheers,

Nick.

used them a few times with lures and caught no problem, easy to put the fly on but can be a pain getting them off.... i may be popping to sharpley springs next week so will let you know, have been once before to have a look but didnt fish, its very well kept and very open, no trees to lose your flies in. i can see it being a nightmare though if its windy!!

Keep at it and you can tie a grinner Knot without even looking (blindfold) Once you've threaded the eye you can watch the water whilst you do the knot, spit, pull it tight then loosen it off again for play. Kinda makes them redundant, eh!

If you do use them on a big trout water ie Lechlade etc check them after every fish, the connector opens up.

Yep,i used to practice a lot same with the uni you just feel with your fingers rather than look what your doing. Its a better knot than the uni for loops as it doesn't close up
