That's an awful lot of wasted aluminium. Presumably the waste is melted down and recycled.

What you are not seeing is the development time, the time to program, set and prove, tooling costs etc. These are things which people seem to forget about when they've seen CNC machinery in action. It's not just a case of sticking the billet in the chuck and pushing start
