Default Reel noise

Fly Fishing reels can be things of beauty to look at, handle and fish with but which reel sings the sweetest as a fish takes your line out ?

Any thoughts?

Nothing wrong with click of a reel, as the line races off.

Don't know about you Colin, but it's not often enough for me.
My Sage 2540's make a sweet subdued noise with a big Tinto brownie on the run.

I really dislike reels that the ratchet clicks when your winding in(stupid).but l prefer my reels (especially my Seatrout reels) to be silent.

The greys streamlite reel is the worst sounding reel ive ever heard, for a reel that price and meant for river work it is surprising how loud and cheap feeling it is, has to be the biggest dissapointment ive had when buying tackle

Indeed Col, indeed. The Hardy reels have a 'cult following' here in America. You see someone in the PNW with a Spey Rod, odds on he's got a Hardy hanging off the the bottom end.

Have a Hardy you want to sell? Log into the SpeyPages web board .... it won't be a week before you're shipping it west.

To add one other 'equipment plug' for an excellent reel take a look at the SpeyCo reels. All hand made and close to indestructible. Also a 'click and pawl type of reel:
