Default Usk - some info. please

Can anyone tell me anything about the Glangrwyne fishery on the middle Usk - between Crickhowell and Abergavenny. I have a few days there in July.

Many thanks.

That link didn't work for me. Try:

The river seems to be dropping today.

I too need to enquire about certain fishing on the Usk.
I find myself in Tal-y-Bont once a month, actually I visit the reservoir above, after crossing the canal. I can always find 3 or 4 hours during the visit.
The river looks good for salmon; but I don't know who holds the fishing in that district. Brown trout only would do.

Am I alone in thinking the Wye/Usk salmon visa is a bit steep at £750.00?

There's a fishing shop just up the road from the 3 salmons hotel in Usk. I'm sure they'd be able to help with some fishing? It looks a lovely river, and has been fairly prolific for friends of mine, but ive never fished it.

Thanks, although the White Hart Inn, just off the canal, is supposed to have some good fishing on the river.
I'll check on my next visit.

Cothi you wouldn't be fishing 'Tiggy' Legge-Bourke's stretch by any chance?

I wouldn't go anywhere near Tiggy Legge-Bourke's stretch, thank you very much. Who do you think I am...the Prince of....?

Now ****** off Puss and stop hijacking my thread with your canal fishing.

There must be some Usk salmon fishers out there who know this stretch at Glangrwyne - one of the best for salmon on the river I'm told.

Hi Cothi,
The stretch of which you enquire is indeed good Salmon water, the club to which i belong holds the rights to the fishing from just above the metal bridge downsream for a mile or so, guest tickets are available if you know a member .
Next beat downstream is again Angling Association water on the right hand bank and Merthyr Angling on the left bank ( tickets are up for grabs on the Wild Trout Auction ).
Above the bridge the right hand bank is in private ownership and the left hand bank belongs to Glan Usk Estate ending at the famous Larder pool.
However a beat at the confluence of the Grwyne Fawr ( Dan y Warren ) is available via the Wye and Usk Foundation.
G

P.S other options available too given the right water if youd like to p.m i may be able to help
