Default If you could, would you buy a Zenith?

The wife has decided to allow me a "special" present for Christmas this year and mentioned this Rod I keep talking about
There's a few offers around at the moment, discounts, cash-back etc. which would bring the cost down but do I really need one, that is my quandary!
I'd also sell my Demon to offset the cost a little.

I'm not the best caster in the world and wouldn't expect this to put me in a new league, so I think I may just becoming a tackle pimp.

So, money aside; if you had the chance of owning a Zenith, would you go for it?

Hmmmm, probably not. If it were me id rather have a new rod at a couple of hundred, of which there are loads of great rods, and maybe some lines, fly tying stuff, leader material, fly boxes and general nick nacks to make up to the price of the zenith. Iv done the expensive rod thing and for me, it wasnt really worth the extra cash, especially with the quality of some of the less expensive rods nowadays.

This is part of the issue Scott, I've enough tying stuff to choke a horse, enough lines, flouro, boxes and decent reels; so I really don't need these things. One shop is doing £120 in vouchers (and 8% cashback through Quidco ), the other is doing 10% off.

If I was fishing in the salt for big species on a regular basis then, yes I would consider one, because I think this is where the technology in these rods would excel!
Unfortunately I don't and I wouldn't be able to justify the outlay for the species I chase.

If you mean one of Steve Parkes' rods, now branded Atom 6, then I wouldn't hesitate. I have one of the these rods and it is so good that I have now sold my Orvis Helios. However, if Steve is custom-building it for you, I would ask for a couple of "tweaks" to the standard model. I would ask for a bigger hood on the upper end of the reel seat, and (a purely personal thing) on a nine-foot four piece model like mine, I would have the stripper ring three inches further up the rod, ie above the ferule wraps and mounted separately.

Totally agree. Pity he never had sole rights to the name zenith before Hardy started developing their zenith. He could have made a fortune.

But if you want a rod BUILT IN THE UK and not Tawain then Steve is your man,
