You can have the perfect fly, tied with excellent materials but if you do not present it in the right place and in the best possible way, it serves no purpose! Massimo Magliocco

If the full length film includes any more of that 'banging' euro pop then I am afraid that I will have to pass.........

Max can I ask a question without starting an arguement, I have a genuine interest in this. All these casts already exist in Britain all be it with different names, why is it they are referred to as the "Italian style" of casting, am I missing something?Jon

Ciao Jon and sorry for my english....
Our technique was born around 50 years ago expecially to combat the fast water and to put the fly under the bush.

Anyway, I came to England invited at the BFFI, two or three time and I sow the english anglers when they cast, and I understood that our style is very different from your style, I don't say that is better than your, but just different.

For me the difference are:
1) lenght rod
2) weight line
3) lenght leader
4) how we use plain of cast
5) coverage of space cast
6) speed of cast
7) thrust given to the end (forward cast)
8) no stop back cast and forward cast
9) angle of cast from water and line
10) arrival of the fly on the water before leader and line

These are the some elements that I thought but I think there are others.
I repeat, I want to say that italian is not better that english, but just different.

Ciao
Max

A load of different names for existing casting techniques and definitions...

'Traction' = Hauling

'Vibration Dampening' = Drift

'Thrust' = Rod Tip Path

'Angular Casting' = Side Cast

Etc. Etc. Etc...

Nothing new here, just an old bird in a new dress.

Ciao Andy,
A lot of english instructors said me that our cast style in very different than english style, anyway you said:

'Traction' = Hauling

'Vibration Dampening' = Drift

'Thrust' = Rod Tip Path

'Angular Casting' = Side Cast

Perhaps you are right about the name but I don't agree about dynamics, for me they are very different
A question, the points that I wrote, are the same in both tecnique ?
Ciao
Max
