Default Royal Mail and Rods!

Anyone else had a problem with trying to send a rod via R.M.? Ok the one I was trying to send was a three pc salmon rod at 1.6m long, but they said they couldn't take it as its too long.

What are they driving Smart Cars instead of Transit Vans nowadays. And they advertise that they need your business to keep them going etc.

Ah well courier company will get the business.

Yes, they won't take them over 1m I think, so only 4 piece trout rods effectively. I TNT the longer rods I sell but costs are obviously higher (IRO £15) and I always explain that to purchasers.

If its the RM you refer to Jim, they won't take it Parcel Post or special anything. Point blank refused to take it

I sent a two piece 9'6" in a long (longer than 1 mtr) airflo rod tube to a forum member in the rep of ireland, RM special delivery, no problems from my local P.O. as someone has said, cost around £15 but was hassle free.

you cant have, RM dont do Special Delivery to Eire.....might have been Internationally Signed For, or Airsure......?

or perhaps Special Delivery to Northern Ireland?

max length Special Delivery is 90 cm, for a roll.

max length for RM airmail is 60cm.

Royal Mail Standard Parcels accept 1.5m length or 3m length and girth combined...in a roll.

not sure they should have accepted a parcel over 1m to Eire via Royal mail......

Oh, right! Sorry my intention was not to mislead I stand corrected, all i did was put the address on it and payed the man!, all he said was standard mail wont do it but special will for around £15. Could easily have been any of the options you gave.

I sent a 9'6'' 3 piece to someone the other wk and they wouldn't take it,ended up going by Parcelforce and cost £15 ( think the length of the tube was only 900mm as well ).Think i may have been duped

It depends on the weight too and the value of the item when selecting the most appropriate service (costwise)

Sometimes 2k plus packets worth more than £46 are cheeper sent via parcelforce 48 than RM Standard parcel.
Plus you get a signature the other end so recipient cant claim non-delivery
