Its not a big fish water as in Avington or Dever, but it does contain some good fish. I have fished it about 4 times in the last 12 months and taken a 10lb brown, 3 bows between 5&8lb the rest are your usual 1 1/2 to 2lb mark. I tend to fish nymphs to make it more challanging, but others hit it with lures.

Its a series of small ponds that each have their own charactor. Not a river fishermans paradise, but i like the place for the odd visit with a bunch of friends as you can have a good social.

I find it the most unstimulating and uninspiring of places. I am sure it has nice fish though.

I fished it whilst on Holiday in Cornwall at the start of October had two fish in about 3 hours (1 at 2lb, the other weighed 10lb 15oz on the fishery scales and 11lb 8oz in my weigh net - I would guess that it was somewhere in between the two), another anlger caught one over 8lb on the day. The big fish was in very good condition, the small one wasn't - I also saw examples of fish in both good and not so good condition in the lakes

In my opinion it is worth a visit to make up your own mind. I think that there is alot to like but some things that aren't so good. Personally if the lakes were nearer to me I would go again, but it probably wouldn't be the place I visited the most

It used to be a big fish water. Osprey and little osprey lakes were the big fish ones and they've had a '30' from there! My best is 15lb 7oz. Each time i've been i've seen double figure browns in osprey lake and that's the lake i always fish. It's got a lovely character, the top end for stockie bashing, and the wooded end for the ressie browns. The rest of the lakes are take it or leave it, but Abigail who runs the place is lovely both to look at and to run the fishery. of all lthe fisheries i've visited i'd give it a 6.5/10. Well worth a visit.

I keep promising myself a weeks' fishing holiday in Devon one May or early June, trying both small stillwaters, and Fernworthy and Kennick ressies. Tavistock is on the small waters list. Is Newhouse, near Totnes, still open ? How does it rate ?

New House is open, I am a bit of a novice so I wouldn't know how to rate it compared to others. I like it, its a nice spot on a sunny day, don't think there are many big fish in there going from the book though.

Kennick is one of the prettiest reserviors you can fish especially when the rhodies ate in full bloom. Its small enough to get around in a day and large enough for a challenge. Fernworthy is a lovely high up res that gets a few stockings of browns every year, top of the water fishing can be great in the warmer months. New house is still open, but its not the place for me, just find it is souless, but as i said thats just me.
