Default The Seven Dollar Catalogue Saga so far..

Some guys in the US suggest that the catalogue available from Feathercraft is worth looking at.

Feathercraft

So I think to myself I'll ask the company and see if they can send me a copy on the basis of these recommendations. The mails have gone like this so far....

Hi Guys

Hearing so many good things about your catalogue and products advertised for sale just wondering if you could send a hard copy to England?

If you can that would be great.

My full address is:-

Loopy

xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxx

St Albans

UK

Thanking you in advance.

Cheers

Mr. Loopy,

I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry. Unfortunately I found your e-mail in the "spam" folder where our incoming mail sometimes arbitrarily ends up for no apparent reason.

I will gladly send you a catalog but I need to bill you $7.00 for shipping & handling costs to cover the postage.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thank you and have a good day.

XXXXX

My reply to this

Hi xxxxx

Thanks for digging the mail out of the bin!

Can you advise me how I can pay you the postage for the catalogue?

Thanks

His/her reply

Mr. Loopy,

You can pay either by credit card, electronic funds transfer or PayPal. Which ever one works for you will work for us.

If you want to use PayPal - I can give Evan your e-mail address and he can send a request to your e-mail. He's are go to guy for PayPal.

Just let me know and have a good day,

I replied

Hi xxxxx

Don’t have a pay pal account but do have a CC.

How would you like me to send the details to you that is secure?

Thanks

Back came

Mr.Loopy

You can fax me your credit card info or place an order on line and I will ignore the item that you ordered. That way I can get your credit card info securely. It is your choice. If you place the order on line - use the special instructions box (it's after you pick your shipping method) to type in that Kally needs the order. That way no one will pull the order and ship it.

If you want to fax the card information I will need number, expiration date and security code from the back of the card.

Our fax number is 1-314-963-0324.

Just let me know which way you want to go,
xxxxx

My reply

Hi xxxxx

The order system sounds good to me.

Do I choose an item worth $7.00 or an item that totals $7.00 including postage? I note the special delivery instructions.

Thanks

The last mail was sent today.

Three questions

Is it really worth it?

Is the card going to get fecked?

Could I get lucky and be the recipient of a new Sage Rod for seven dollars?

Answers on a postcard please!

That certainly looks the way I am heading but would have liked a hard copy.

Cheers

Or you could try Cabelas-pay 12$ supposedly refundable and anything you order will automatically cost at least 25 per cent more shipping costs and customs fees. I like Cabelas and bought some nice gear from them when I was over there, but I will refrain from buying more unless I make a trip back over there. It may cost a bit more and I may not quite get the choices Cabelas offer, but whatever I may save I,ll lose so can,t see the point. I do not like using credit cards on line as details can be obtained quite easily by anyone determined enough to get them so try to avoid using them as much as possible.

Not sure Cabelas is all quality merchandise. Been getting into wooden fly boxes this year and posted a thread on CF about two boxes.

Click the image to open in full size.

Cabella's 50th anniversary fly box - looks ok from the classified ad pic but the box wouldn't close properly and wasn't even when closed as best it could. Logo was printed on box and a tad blurred. Against a Lars Anderson which just oozes quality.

And you are right about the costs. Better to wait for a trip over that way yourself.
