Hi I fish a small lake.it is stocked with rainbows.but because it is c&r very few fish are taken.it does not have any other fish not even sticklbacks.Lures dont work very well,there is plenty of natural feeding.The lake was once a bog it is in the foothills of a mountain.any suggestions for flies this time of the year.It is only stocked about 3 times ayear.

At the present time I'd fish nymphs or buzzers and allow them to drift rather than strip.Your rainbows will be very used to natural food by the sound of things.Later when it get down to low and minus temperatures boobies or blobs on a fast sink line will bring results.

Sounds almost as tough as the place I fish, Wharncliffe near Sheffield. Our place was only stocked twice this year, the last time in early May.

Diawl Bachs, buzzers and Olive Damsels are worth a try. Don't rule out lures altogether, there are days when they'll take the good old Cat's Whisker. I also like to fish a black Woolly Bu**er slow and deep through the winter months.
