Default your club

We all belong to a local fishing club but what do you get for your subs?

I belong to the Mid Northants Trout Fishers and they offer:
Fly tying evenings all year round at the local pub.
Monthly guest speakers in the winter shut down.
A range of competitions for both boat and bank , single or pairs.
Largest fish caught, smallest caught.
Summer BBQ.

And a chance to wind up your mates.

What do you get for your subs?
And how do you recruit new members?

Do you belong to any fishing club in the UK ? If so why did you choose it ?

Or are you just making the point that I have presumed to much when I say 'We all belong to a local fishing club' ?

Rutland Water Fly Fishers, we have a winter programme, which includes fly tying, guest speakers, tackle auction, litter picking session, anual dinner. Boat and bank competitions through the season, regular news letters. We get involved with events like Water Aid as boatmen and for 2012 we are organising this Home - rutlandwaterflyfishers.co.uk.

The club also gets involved with major competitions.

Not bad for £16.00? Its our AGM this Thursday at the White Horse, Empingham, if you fancy coming along.

The Guash, bank clearing sessions, as and when, 25 miles of river. Thats about it.

Correct.

I don't particulary like clubs. Too many chiefs, cooks, politics etc. Also, I like to get around with my fishing. Sure, joining a club doesn't stop me from doing that, but for me the money would be wasted as I'd probably only fish the club waters on odd occasions.

Now... you can tell me why I should join a club.

Scratch
Having read some of your posts you seem a prickly individual who really could do with some quality time socializing
And joining a club where you can take the mick out of real people would be just the ticket

But, I get that every weekend anyway, when I wet the bed.

Any particular need for that, GG? I just pulled you up on your sweeping assumption, then happily entered into your debate as intelligently as I know how, and then asked you a question.

I could have come straight in with something like... 'GG, you seem like a right mouthbreather who continually asks numb, pointless questions, and could do with some quality time stroking yourself'... but I didn't.
