Angry bung fishers

Popped along to my local stillwater at the weekend since the larger boat venues have now closed for the season and was astonished by the amount of anglers using floatsnow I have no doubt it is a technique that can reap its rewards on its day but I take objection to the anglers who toss out there line and then proceed to sit on there backside with rod left lying on the ground and then get out a picnic and flask and begin stuffing there facesat one point one guy had to run along the bank before he lost his rod when his float disappearedat one point I counted 14 guys all sat on chairs/boxes float fishing.on checking the fishery rules where it stated the rod must be held while your flies are in the water I asked the fishery manager why he allowed this practise to be told he had no choice or his water would be empty if he banned itis this the state of smallwaters in this country nowadaysplease tell me not

I fish this method alot and don't often hold the rod until there is a fish attached.

Please don't criticize me as it's a method that i really do enjoy. It's nice to be able to relax and take in the surroundings.

I know alot of people will say that i will end up deep hooking fish (i use this method with boobies as well as an indicator) but i've started to use a carp anglers alarm to let me know if any line starts to be taken from the reel. That helps me react in time so the fish is hooked correctly. It does work really well 90% of the time.

Each to their own fellas and if i enjoy it, why shouldn't i use this method?

I fished Barnsfold Fishery Lancashire recently and at least half a dozen fishermen were seated static booby fishing no indicator invovled. The owner has taken down his sign banning static boobies again this must be a sign of the times.

I don't use bungs or static boobys but if others want to then its up to them!
They pay the money! same as us and as Iv been told more than I care to mention lately , this is what keeps the fisheries open.
Just think to yourself what them couch potatoes are missing
I can see that the method could be relaxing enough and it does catch fish.

I've tried using them a few times, and infact have a post on here asking for advise using them. Something I have noticed is that once a method of catching fish has been found, a lot of people just stick to that and don't experiment at all. I think its all about how many fish they catch, not how they are caught. Personally, at the moment, I'm in both camps. So far I've been fishing 6 times and the amount I have caught has risen every time. I'm now starting to try and find different ways of catching them and this is proving to be a difficult but enjoyable learning curve.

i personally dont see the problem in fishing the bung if it is ok with the fishery rules but what i dont get is the people that slag people off who use it it is a perfectly legal to use and there is people who have problems/injuries that stop them fishing lures etc that can still fis the bung because there isent as much casting involved,

the anti bung brigade should just mind there own buisness and stick to there own fishing and leave other that are happy fishing the bung alone
