Default Help - Rod ring questions

Hi,
I purchased another Sage XP rod (on ebay.. it was supposed to be in 'as new' condition!) and have noticed during fishing yesterday that the first ring (biggest one) the inner plastic material has worn in deep V shaped grooves and its already damaging my fly line..

So my questions are..

* Can i file this plastic inner down to make it smooth?
* Can this plastic be replaced?
* What other options do i have?
* If i end up having to replace the whole ring, how much does this cost?
* is there anyone near WF5 postcode that can do repairs to 1st class standard?

Thanks for your help...

If the bottom ''CERAMIC'' ring is worn that bad it is a certanty that the snake rings will be knacked as well.needing a complete re-ring for the whole rod.
Sounds like you were sold a pup.

If that's the case I'd be filling a claim with e-bay and the seller

When you use the bottom eye as a keeper you normally use the frame of the eye rather than the centre.

I have contacted the seller to see what they think of the situation... i have asked if they will either refund me and i return the rod or cover the repair cost.

I also spoke to Gary Coxen and its a cost of £9 per ceramic and £6 per snake plus £35 postage. he also said if ceramic is that bad the snakes are likely dead too. I am at work at the moment so cannot check all of the rings but it sounds the repair is going to be over £100....

Ebay strikes again!

Good case for using the legs and not the ring itself

Hope it all works out for you and e-bay sort it,if not the only consolation i can give you is Gary's work is superb and you won't notice the work done on it.
