Question flyfishing for pike

Just a "quick" question,
Since the trout and salmon season is over. (my river anyway) i was thinking of trying some flyfishing for pike. So i know i need to get wire bite trace, but what rod, flies and places (scotland) would you recommend??
Any help would be great

Where abouts are you?

9 foot 9wt or 10wt rod will do the job nicely

hi there, i started pike fly fishing this year and i wish i had done it years ago.
it's great fun once you find the right spots and once you get the hang of them big flies.
i bought a 9ft 10wt fulling mill rod, vision koma 10/11wt reel and a couple spools of a ebay. i got my lines from pike trek and also bought authanic wire.
i think the whole lot cost about £150.
i never caught a thing on my first 10 trips then it just clicked and was lucky enough to catch a 18lber, was the hardest fighting fish i've had on the fly.

I am not to sure about that area, obviousy the canals are worth a go.

Hillend is not too far away, also the lilly loch.

Or head to Perthshire and try Butterstone, The lake was also letting pike fly fishers on at one point.

The DVD, Fly-Fishing For Pike with David Wolsoncroft-Dodds is a good start as well. Best to go with someone experienced in handling pike as well.
