Default US import

I am sorely tempted to order a fly reel from a US dealer at almost £100 off the UK price. It would be sent post-free, and they are even throwing in a $75 line, into the bargain. Does anyone have any idea what extra I would have to pay at this end by way of import duty/customs/VAT/Post Office handling charges, etc?
(I don't want to ask them to falsely label the package as a gift, or warranty repair, or any such device to attempt to avoid payment.)
Cheers,
Angus

Hi Angus,
add 25% to your total price and will give you an approx price of what you are after.

I paid about £29 import tax on an Islander IR2, which was about £150 is plus the postage was about £25.

if you go to Calculate your import duty in a few quick steps for free | The DutyCalculator and fill in the details they will tell you exactly how much extra it will cost you. Iused it recently when buying
a rod and they were spot on.Iwas also charged an extra £8 by parcelforce as well.

20% Vat
Duty (its not much maybe 3-4%)
Parcelforce charge of £8 or £13

Do remember that if something go's wrong with the reel that you will have to send it back to the USA to sort out.

Sometimes it could be better to pay slightly more in the uk.
Maybe ask a retailer in the Uk if he could through in a line.
