Default Could This Damage My Rod?

Hi all, just a quickie.

I've bought a 10' #4 Greys Streamflex (mark 1) but until I have some more free cash the closest reel and line I have is a #5/6 reel with a DT5 on it. Would this be OK to use until I get the #4 reel and line or could it damage my rod?

Many thanks, Rob.

Should be fine as long as your not planning to launch big lures at long distance.

Yes will be absolutely fine. You may find short line work a bit easier with the #5.

Cheers guys, much appreciated!

I think I'm more likely to be using it for nymph/spider work anyway so I shouldn't be using lots of the line.

Thanks again,

Rob.

Isn't it quite common to overline the rod by one extra line weight?

Going over or under your rods rating by 1 is fine.

You can have a look at this
