Has anyone had to send a rod section back to Greys and what did you do?

I have a Greys XF2 Streamflex with a broken section. While out fishing with a mate we had a rod swap and while casting the rod broke (2nd section from the tip). I have had a look at the Grey's website and don't know if it gets sent away for the "Unconditional lifetime guarantee" or the "Worldwide extended warranty". I did not pay that much attention to the little tag that I filled in and sent away when I got the rod?

Please do not be surprised if they want their £40 for it though.

I looked at their site but there is two guarantee type systems and i am not sure what one the rod comes under. One works out about 30 quid and the other 50 quid.

If it broke during casting seems like a manufacturing fault.
Best to phone to check warranty type.
Send broken section back after cutting up into small 10cm (4in) pieces along with check. Put a note in saying which section and rod etc.
Also include how it broke.

I had same problem with a G-Tec, they sent me replacement and a note saying they destroyed my cheque.

Cheers. Do you have the G-Tec reel to match? I have the reel that was meant to match my rod but i'm not impressed with it and am considering getting the G-Tec reel.

I sent my broken tip section of my g-tec away about two months ago and had a replacement section within a week. Unfortunately you'll be charged their standard £40 "admin and packaging/postage" fee.

Bit of a crappy guarantee but at least my rod was fixed!
