Default PayPal Gift Transactions

Why can't we come to some sort of arrangements over the PayPal charges? In my mind it is simply not good enough for a seller to expect a buyer to forego all their rights to a refund, should there be something wrong with the purchase, as it is when you send money as a gift. And believe me, if you send money as a gift, you aren't entitled to protection from PayPal.

Simple solution , refuse to send it as a gift , but add on the charges , if you feel generous, go through the process as a gift, it will tell you the charges, then cancel and pay as normal, with the extra added on. If the vendor wont accept this, then ask yourself why?

It's a tricky one isn't it, what you say GFL is true, and I will only send a gift within the forum, or to someone I know and trust.
I have bought and sold many items on here in the last four years, from members, and I am happy to say, I have never had the need to ask for a refund.
If someone bought from me, and wasn't happy I would take the goods back and refund without question.
If I feel safe with it, I will use it, but on the internet in general, no I wouldn't.

I agree 100%

And to be fair, the seller should absorb Paypal charges to save him the hassle of fagging a cheque to the bank!

Im afraid its just a con for sellers to avoid fees , hence ive never purchased anything on here or anywhere else when the seller asks you to pick up the tab . If you want to sell your goods you should be picking up the tab .

Correct me if i am wrong, (tin helmet time), but does using the "gift" clause, not also mean the goods are immune to import/export tax??
just a thought.

Wouldn't ever dream of buying anything on here or anywhere for Paypal 'Gift' with no comebacks whatsoever. The bargains are best left to the chancers
