There are many discussions about how to get youngsters into the sport, and i have not met many fly anglers below 50 years old in my fly fishing adventures so far. Surely there must be a boat load of them somewhere ???

It made me wonder how old you lot are! ... I know its rude to ask and i have just posted on a thread about manners but thats what made me think of it!!!

I will go first and break the ice..

Im 34 and started fly fishing at 32

My average age is 29 1/2 . I started fishing when I was 6 in 1958. I started fly fishing when I was circa 16, happy memories...............birdsnest

Im 23 and i started when i was about 19.

I didnt have the patience for it when i was younger.

i'm 32 and started when i was about 12. Have to say i'm not much better at it then than i am now, but i still love it.

45 & been fishing since i can remember, 8 year old when i started fly fishing.

I've been 32 ever since the 1980's

Born 1951. Started fishing aged 9. Like many folks, my interest dipped for a while in the frenetic years of my late 'teens, see allanw's comment but include getting into university for me as well, but my interest woke up again when I was 19 or 20. Started fly fishing aged 21...my first trout on fly was a rainbow from the North Shore at Blagdon in April 1972. Still love the sport.

Got a fly rod, reel and line, back in 1956, I was 8, years old. But in our angling club there are many young anglers, probably more youngsters than us old-timers. What goes round - comes round, fishing will always attract people to participate, it's like a never ending circle.

Dont take Priority over Fly Fishing any more as all three are at home after a good days fishing well not quite a girl any more but still not sagging
