Default Do you revisit a venue/place after you have blanked?

The reason I ask is that a mate of mine recently organised a fishing day for a few lads who belong to a kind of affinity group and he was surprised that a couple of the lads were missing off the list.

The day went well with everyone of the dozen or so catching at least one fish. That is a good day!

He was surprised to learn that the two members missing from the gang had previously blanked the venue so did not want to attend.

May I enquire what your thoughts are their decision not to attend because of blanking previously and where do you stand?

Cheers in advance

I only visit again if I've blanked if the place is well stocked and has a good reputation Every fishery can have an off day just like an angler.

It's down to personal choice. Personally i would go back & give the place another try.

I still revisit if i have blanked. Sometimes we just have a bad day, making bad selections. Or presenting the fly badly.

If i blank at i venue it makes me want to go back really soon just to catch a fish there.

But it can depend on the waters, i wont go back if the place is poorly stocked or not stocked that often.

I am one that would see this as a challenge...

I fish certain rivers that others tell me are just deviod of fish. I have been fishing them for about 12 months now and there are a still a few stretches i have yet to catch a single thing! ... I keep going back and i will catch ...eventually!

If I followed their lead, I'd have run out of fisheries to go to . If I've blanked whilst all in sundry are catching I know it's down to me, so I just ask my fellow anglers for advice. If everyone's struggling I just think 'every dog has its day' and leave it a few weeks before returning, when I usually find I'm either still Mr Zero or god's gift to angling

I can think of only one fishery that I have never blanked on.....taly-llyn, and that was a last cast effort once. If I didn't fish the waters i've blanked on I wouldn't have much to go at.....................birdsnest

It's all part of learning the venue. Took two blanks at lawfield before I caught but would go back. Blanked first time at Alderneuk but went back and would go back more. Blanked first time at menteith but would go back.

You can tell when your there if the place is worth it and I also see it as a challenge to break that duck.

Now on the other hand blencarn and bessy beck in Cumbria I wouldn't return to after blanking at both unless you like a weed fish.

So basically I think you can tell if a venue is worthwhile on your first visit whether you catch or not!

A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying
