With appoligies here JJ. Flat missed your post above (one of the fellow members brought up this thread, ergo why I'm back).
Yes, Simm's does their own wader repairs, and by all indications does a darned good job of it. Most, BUT NOT ALL, of their waders are manufactured here in the US so they have the 'expertise,' equipment, etc. But that's why you're 'bucks up' when you buy a set. Like fishing rod 'warrenties' the potential cost of repair/replacement is built right into the base purchase price.
But that's a primary reason most very reputable 'seller's' (think Orvis, LL Bean, Dan Bailey, etc) are so 'free' with their return/exchange/replacement policies. Costs them little but they get a ton of "Good Press." And "Good Press" sells a lot of gear in a highly competitive market.
"Bad Press" kills sales..... lots and lots of sales.
The Internet/fishing Forums like this one are/can be a major player in 'heads up' marketing plans. I can think of more than a few 'small shops' where the owner is a frequent poster and every one of 'his' posts is 'face time' with a current/potential customer. I'll use one of your own as a 'Good example of a good example:' Ian, aka Grommit.
He's at least 6,000 miles from me and we do a steady flow of business. I'm beginning to suspect he has my street address down to memory.
