Default Price of Trout and Salmon Fillets gone mad?

I was in Asda today doing the weekly shop and while I was at the fish counter I noticed that farmed Salmon was going for £16 odds a Kilo and rainbow trout was going for £19 a Kilo!, both were prices for fillets. Whats going on? Why is trout dearer than Salmon? I only got an odd expression from the guy by the counter when I asked about the price difference. Jon
P.s. I was buying Tuna fillets so I don't need a lecture on Salmon farming

ASDA in Motherwell was £12.99 tonight.

But I bought cod and bass instead.

It could be due to the escalation of manufactured "animal feed" prices. Terrible isn't it

Would that Tuna be from a sustainable source?

Yes, Blue Fin are being hunted to the brink as we speak.

If you all want to avoid a real environmental disaster, one that doesn't have opinions, only hard fast facts, then boycott tuna sales now.

Is there any fish that is safe to buy that won't have an effect on the environment?

Farmed Baramundi, Tilapia etc.

Always with the proviso that the farming process is in a 'discrete' environment and water quality from any outflow is strictly monitored.

In addition, fish like line caught mackerel ... assuming they've not all been hoovered up by the Russian factory ships.

No wonder that chap in the earlier thread cracked that 6lb Brownie on the skull, he just made a quick £60

Ah, seared tuna with cracked black pepper and still red in the middle - almost as good as a nice steak!
