Default pike or carp on the fly. west of Scotland

Looking for something a little different this winter. Any fisheries on or near the west of Scotland that stock carp & allow you to fly fish for them. Also looking for some decent pike fishing waters.

Hi Colin, I have never fished for coarse fish, but there seem to be plenty of large sized pike in Eglinton Loch, Kilwinning. It is fished a lot by coarse anglers. I don't know what other fish are found there. Might be worth an enquiry in the right quarters.
Billy.

Hi mate.

I am of the same mindset as you this winter. Once the season is over for me i (Nith into November ) i will be having a go at the pike.

Last week i bought a season ticket for Lochwinnoch angling club see here St.Winnoch Angling Club Home Page
Ticket cost me a whopping £15 and runs till march.

The Barr loch and castle semple hold plenty pike. There is also Kilbirnie loch/Kilbirnie angling club. I think the club hold Pike fly fishing competitions here. Give RT cycles in Glengarnock a wee buzz. They sell tickets for both.

If you want a wee drive then i would head for loch katrine. There was an article recently in one of the monthly mags (cant remember which one) that featured this loch. It has just been re-opened for angling and im sure would hold a few surprises. See here....Home - Loch Katrine Fisheries

Drop me a PM if you fancy a day out for the Pike. Once im done with the salmon season i'd be up for it.

Tight lines
Paul
