Default Tippet rings

Picking up on the thread of mixed leader setup and the use of tippet rings, does anyone use them for attaching droppers if so how do you attach the rings to the leader?

Straight forward blood knot, or knot of choice that you have confidence in. Same for attaching the droppers. I gave up on them, too fiddly.

I use a grinner/uni knot to attach the Tippett and dropper to the rings. I always tie the ring to the leader at home as they can be very fiddly to use. It is then easier to tie the Tippett and dropper at the waterside.

I can see either of the two above are good for attaching the tippet or dropper to the ring and the ring to the end of the leader but I am puzzling how to attach the ring to the leader for dropper attachment, I can see that you could push a loop of the leader through the ring then over the ring but I think that the ring may slide up the leader then

You tie the ring on the leader as you would a hook, Then you attach the next length of leader to the ring and a short dropper length to the same ring. Hence why they are fiddly and are best done at home. The rings are small.

3 knots per ring. They are good if you can get on with them. Tend to sink dry flies though.

I have used them when fishing with fine fluorocarbon and they help the strength of the setup (better than any dropper knot I can find !) but they are very, very fiddley. If I was forced to fish fine (three or four lbs breaking strain) for biggish trout (two pounds and up) I would take the time and effort to use them.......It worth noting Riverge recommend them for droppers with their fluorocarbon....says it all....

I used to use them for droppers, but found they were quite reflective and I could often spot them in the water. I decided that it it could be putting off the fish and stopped for that reason. I only use them now on the ends of polyleaders.

I know what you mean stacon, but I found the Drennan micro version the best by far.......some of them are either silver or oval cross section in shape and cut the leader in my opinion Again....Drennan micro....cheapest and best I could find, and it's not often that happens
