I was reading an article in FF & FT last night that was refering to GISS in relation to fly fishing.

Can some kind soul please shed some light on what it means please .... I presume it's an acronym or is it ?

general impression size and shape i think its either stuart crofts or jeremy lucas and probably was explained in a couple of earlier issues

I think it started out in the War for plane spotters (Friend or foe) and is now used by Birdwatchers.
