Default Thank you and hello!

I just wanted to thank the great country of England for a show i just discovered on my local cable tv network.

Fish O'mania

This is the greatest fishing show ever. A bunch of guys sitting around a giant man made mud puddle using sling shots to fling bait into the water and netting carp and the like with a 30 foot net. Awesome.

These gentlemen take home some pretty good money for doing so as well. It sure beats the competition fishing shows in the States. A bunch bubbas racing around in expensive boats, wearing loud shirts and dislocating the jaws of bass with their hook sets...

Sorry i started off with something not related to fly fishing. I am a member of the sister site to this one, North American Fly Fishing Forum. I live in the American Pacific NW. I am fortunate enough to have a lot of trophy trout and steelhead water close by. I regularly fish the Deschutes for big fat rainbows and steelhead.

I know Fred Evans is a long time member of this forum who also lives in Oregon. His knowledge is far greater than mine. However, he lives down south. I live up near the Portland metro area. If any of you would like any information about fishing this area, please feel free to pm me at anytime. I can also recommend local guides and know a fair amount about the fisheries and their facilities.

I know next time i am in the UK i plan on bringing my fly rod(s). The first two times i was there i was too busy wandering around castles, various other old things and drinking your ales.

Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Thank you and hello!

Can't resist:

"I know Fred Evans is a long time member of this forum who also lives in Oregon. However, he lives down south. I live up near the Portland metro area."

Right there, "I live up near the Portland metro area" you have the 'whole story' in a nut shell. That said, you want to "B & B the Rogue,' PM me. Good news is I'm a damned good cook. Just be aware that you will have a couple of large wet noses (Sandy/Husky) checking you/your gear out.

That said, one must pass Doggie's sniff test, never wrong?

Just Kidding Vans. WELCOME to the Forum. Good folks here.

PM sent in a couple of minutes.
Fred

Hi Vans-originally from the state just north of you. If you think Fish-O-Mania is mad try the competition scene. Strangely enough some like it. At least you did mention those "Bass Derbies" over there with even bigger prizes on offer. There was one on Banks Lake last year offering a boat, motor and trailer as first prize so the competitions are still going strong as ever over there.

lol Fred. I always say "near". I prefer to say i live in western Washington county, nestled up at the base of the coast range. It is a necessary evil though. My job went in the tank when the economy took a dump. The wife however still brings in the long green working downtown Portland.

Someday we hope to moved to Bend if all works out as planned...

Understand Buddie; in today's economy you've 'got to follow the money.' Read that pay the rent/mortgage/etc. As long as you've got a river near by .... things could be worse? Rogue's a tad over 5 minutes drive from the front door.
