Default "Salmon's resting-place"...

...is the clue in this month's T&S crossword.

L _ E

"lie" or "lye"?

I would have assumed "lie" but a quick google for the correct spelling in a salmon context brings up some hits for "lye".

Any help appreciated

Would have assumed the gramatically correct word is lye, as in lying down.
Whereas to lie is a porky pie!
However I am of an age where text speak and *******isation of the langauage is a new phenomenon!!

I have never even seen the word 'lye' before. Surely it is lie.

To be correct one would lay in a bed and not lie or for that matter lye.

'Lye' would appear to be soemthing to do with caustic soda .
