Hi John,
You can fish for rainbows all year round.
I have fished quite a few of the rainbow fisheries over there, I get over two or three times a year.
I would recommend Kilgad near Kells, you will get some good advice and its not too big a place.
I used to fish at Craigmore near Randalstown, that was excellent fishing but not been for a couple of years. Plenty of dry fly action through the winter.
I would also recommend Tildarg and Straid though they are a bit tougher because of their size.
There used to be a place near Larne called Raloo, it is very small but good for the novice. I caught my first Rainbow there a few years ago.
All of these places offer good friendly advice, I used to find the phone numbers in yellow pages.
Let us know how you get on.
Good Luck.
Ade.

Hi John
Most of the rivers rounds your area close at the end of October and will open again on 1st March. In between there are quite a few fisheries open all year round for Rainbows.
