Use 2 pieces of inner tube to grip the rod sections then twist and pull carefully.

Put the rod behind your legs right behind your knees, with your knees together, one hand on each section.

Now open your knees apart using your knees as leverage to pull your hands and the rod sections apart.

This will work most times, if not it's a 2 man job, standing back to back, rod through your legs (no silly comments required please ) each of you holding one section of the rod, and each pull the rod section apart on the count of three.

Best regards
Jim

Use the inner tube rubber trick (or rubber pond liner, or marigold washing up gloves!) and also put the rod behind the back of your knees whilst gripping it in your hands. The inside of your elbows should be resting against the outside of your knees. Force your knees apart as well as pulling your hands apart either side of the joint.

If that still doesn't work - run the joint under some warm water and try again. It can sometimes help if you get someone else to hold one section whilst you hold the other (again using rubber to grip).

DO NOT (WHATEVER YOU DO) USE WD40 - it will melt the resin in the rod and permanently glue the two pieces together!

Two folk facing each other, each person has a hand above and below the stuck joint.twist and pull together, normally works.except in severe cases. Can be used in conjunction with the inner tube trick.

Stick the joint in a bag of frozen peas for ten minutes, sometimes helps.

Freeze the joint - you can wrap a bag of frozen peas around it. Leave it for up to a hour. Use Marigold gloves, or something similar, to get a non-slip grip of the rod, twist and pull. It's the only method I've found that actually works.
