Default The greatest stillwater flies of all time?

Lol Im full of questions tonight - I think it must be the excitement of the rugby tomorrow lol - CMON WALES!!!! lol

OK if for a stillwater you are limited to 1 pattern of lure, 1 nymph and 1 dry fly for the rest of your angling career what would they be?

I'm fairly new to this so cant really answer (which is why im interested) but I think already Ill go for a hopper for the dry. How about you?

Adams for the dry, Hare's Ear nymph and a Dunkeld.

Can we class some wets as lures?

The old patterns are still around for a reason ...... they still work

Cheers
Mike

Strictly speaking, if you allow yourself some variations in the dressing and the hook designs, such as various coloured tails (if any), lead under body (or not), long shank, normal shank, cock hackle or hen hackle, big or small... you could manage very nicely for the rest of your life on one pattern for a lure, a nymph and a dry fly, the Black and Peacock Spider!
