Default How a flyline is made

After recent threads about which brand is better etc, and the Pirate's explanations of the different types and manufacturing processes. I found this and thought it would be interesting.

Although every manufacturer has its secrets, I believe this is basically the way everyone but Airflo (and maybe Monic) make them - they use extrusion (like a toothpase tube) without a baking tower.

cheers,

Andy

Interesting, but even more curious as to how much it really costs them to make a fly line-no where near as much as they charge I should think!

Of course not! They have to pay for designers, advertising, staff, overheads etc etc and still make a profit at the end of it. Otherwise why would they bother?

Agreed it is a nice video. But how anyone can conclude from it that they now know how flylines are made is beyond me. It did not actually show how lines are made! In fact it was a load of old cobblers beautifully shot and edited. It worked though didn't it? It convinced you all that you now know how flylines are made...

The film makers would be laughing out loud if they saw this thread.

No wonder so many folk never realise what is going on at the waterside! Observation seems to be a skill that few of you learn.
