Default Squarm

It seems they are taking a lot of fish on the rivers of north Carolina on squarms.
Simple little pattern but has anyone used them here to any great effect?
My take on a squarm but not sure if it right!

That fly was just a take on what I was told and tied with the materials I had here!!
I was trying to find out if it was anything like the squarm that is taking a lot of fish on the White river etc in N.Carolina in the good ol USA.

It now seems the material used is squirmy wormie that can be bought from here..

All right, all right, Midge. Just exercising my constitutional right to be annoyed by the constant reinvention of old patterns and then claiming they're something new. At least this version doesn't have some twonk's name in front of it.

On some of the more famous Western US rivers like the Green and the Bighorn, the SJW is a must have and there are days when you'd have trouble catching without them.

The water is just loaded with these tiny worms, I don't know what they are called, but especially on the Bighorn there are so many of them that just walking in the soft gravel/silt where there is some weed cover will send a bunch of these worms downstream. It is actually considered unsporting to move excessively in order to create this release of worms, it's almost like ground baiting a hole because it touches off a trout feeding frenzy. It's called the "San Jaun Shuffle" and guides will yell at anglers who are seen or suspected to be doing this.

Personally, I have only ever caught on SJW's when there has been recent heavy rains. I can only speculate that the runoff washes many worms into the river and the trout key in on them for a few days. It's always a pattern that's worth a try if you're having trouble making something happen.

I use standard Vernille for the body. Not that I condone the use of the pattern (But it's handy to have one tucked away in a corner of the box for those 'difficult' situations)
