Angry Stolen gear - Orvis Bloke

First time post on here from a very long time lurker based in the North West of England.

Sadly not the best reason to be posting though; a large quantity of my fishing gear was stolen in the early hours of Friday morning when our two cars were stolen from my drive. Kitchen broken into and keys taken whilst we were asleep

The total value of items in the boot was substantial and included an Orvis superfine trout bum 8ft 5 wt, Bloke 12ft6 Spey rod and 2 Orvis large Arbour VI reels loaded with RIO AFS and a spool with a Rio AFS, a Vortex VO2 5 wt with a RIO gold on, a Sure spin spinning rod, shimano exage reel. Sundry other stuff Orvis wading jacket (Clearwater I think) Maui Juim sunglasses, 3 fly boxes, kelly kettle, Aigle wellies etc.etc.

IF any one gets offered or sees anything similar please PM me. (I am insured for most of this but that isnt really the point, I was quite attached to most of it). Still no one was hurt and property can be replaced!

I won't be leaving anything over night in the car again...

Sad news for a first post KNC, where are you in the north west?
Good luck with getting it back.
Steven.

Any act of theft is terrible, but you've led with your chin here on two fronts. Leaving anything of value in an unattended vehicle is asking for trouble and to have the keys of not one but 2 vehicles where they could be stolen whilst you were sleeping is just plain careless. Now the crooks will know what you have to replace and will probably be interested in having a second go in due course. Meanwhile, you need to wise up.

My sympathies KNC-had all my stuff stolen in 1979 from my garden shed in North London when thieves hack-sawed the padlock off and the insurance did Not cover it. Wasn,t as valubale as your gear, but meant a lot to me-enough that I didn,t return to fishing till four years ago so I know how it hurts-some of my gear had deep entimental value having been given me by a late friend who died from cancer in america a long time ago so it was vintage gear as well! Hope you get it back, but alas don,t be surprised if you don,t, but will keep an eye open for anything for sale on the cheap.

Sorry to hear that, I know how it feels having been there myself a couple of years ago. I hope you get it back I really do. The guy who stole mine was caught and convicted, but not before he offloaded all my stuff so I never saw it again. He was a youth offender so got some kind of contract, essentially a bit of community service and victim awareness training. He was supposed to write a letter of apology, I never got it so assume he never bothered and essentially got off Scot free. Thats justice for you.

Anyway folk on here were really kind and sent me some stuff to get me started again. I'd.like to pass on that to someone else as its one of the great things about this forum, the way people help each other out or pull together for a good cause.

I can't offer a great deal but if you let me know what type of.flies you use i'll tie some up and send them to you to help replenish your collection. I know for me losing the flies I'd tied myself was the most heartwrenching part of it all,

Cheers mot

Anyone who's stupid enough to let two cars get stolen and to have left so much valuable gear in them doesn't need charity, a kick up their stupid careless 'arris would do more good. That is if the story has indeed any substance to it. You have to wonder!!
